Final Photo Critique

A Lizard's Domain

The lighting and overall composition of the photo gives off a visual appeal. The lighting that illuminates the lizard creates a spotlight, highlighting the lizard as the main focus of the photograph. The orange hues make the photo more visually appealing as it fits with the lizard's natural environment, which would be the desert. The reflections on the glass behind the lizard also provide a cool effect.

A Walk Through Nature

The ground-level photo of a pathway surrounded by trees gives off a moody scene. It helps draw the viewers into a peaceful but also mysterious setting in the photo. The surrounding trees that hide the sky create a sense of enclosure, giving off the feeling of being enveloped by nature and enticing viewers to discover what lies beyond the dirt path.

A Winding Pathway

The photo of the winding path surrounded by trees gives off a feeling of tranquility in walking through nature. The composition of the photo effectively captures the serenity of the photo. The darker sky and lighting also contributes to a deeper atmosphere 

Bridge Amidst Clear Waters

The photo offers a good glimpse into the landscape's beauty. It offers a peaceful scene capturing the beauty of a bridge above clear, shallow water. The lower viewpoint by the rippling water immerses the view in the surroundings. The image creates a sense of openness, seeing how far the water spans.

Blooming Colors

The variety of flowers presents a visually intriguing array of colors between the pink, yellow, orange, and blue colors of the flowers. The composition of the photo captures the beauty of nature from a perspective overhead, giving off a unique viewpoint. 

Setting Sun

This photo shows a captivating moment as the sun closes in on the horizon, casting a warm glow across the sky and ocean. The sky creates a nice background for the darker clouds above. The dark clouds against the orange hues coming from the sun create an eye-catching scene. The ocean's patches of darker waves also contrast with the lighter ones, creating more depth in the photo.

Into the Sunset

This photo captures a beautiful moment as the sun casts hues of orange against the blue sky, illuminating some clouds while leaving others dark. It creates a sense of depth and contrast, enhancing the photograph's mood. The person prancing on the sand in the distance also adds more interest to the photo.

However, the brightness of the sky may take away from the overall balance of the photo's composition.

By blurring the trees in the background, the teacup stands out as the focus, but adjusting the composition through placing the teacup higher up in the photo could enhance its prominence. However, the photo's composition really captures its simplicity and the beauty of the moment.

 Final Reflection:

I first joined this online course expecting to only learn about various camera skills and techniques, but the course exceeded my expectations as I ended up learning way more than that. I have come to a realization of just how big technology has had an impact on our everyday lives. While technology is convenient, it can also have negative consequences. I have realized that I am not alone in becoming overly dependent on my devices, which can cause me to ignore the world around me and affect my mental health. Social media is one aspect of technology that can be both helpful and misleading. Many people present their lives as perfect on social media, using filters and only showing the positive aspects. It is not necessarily harmful to use technology though, as social media has allowed us to have a sense of unity within the online community. I believe that it is important to maintain a healthy balance between using technology and focusing on what is around us. This course has helped me become more aware of my technology and social media habits. It also helped me learn that photography is a complex art involving many factors. After completing this course, I feel more confident in my photography skills and look forward to continue improving them in the future.
