WAR IN THE MARIANAS

Image
Tonga Cave: Tonga Cave is a cave located in Songsong Village, Rota. Over thousands of years, this cave was used for varying purposes. During World War II, it was used as a hospital by the Japanese military. The people who lived in Rota also used the cave as a place of refuge during typhoons before they had concrete houses. This is the entrance leading into Tonga Cave. This is a picture of the remnants of an old stove inside Tonga Cave. This is the area inside Tonga Cave where patients were brought and treated. These are the stairs leading up to a higher level inside Tonga Cave. This is a shrine outside of Tonga Cave that was used to pray back then.

Lovelee’s Introduction

Image
Hello everyone, my name is Lovelee Jingco! I am currently a sophomore at Dr. Rita Hocog Inos Jr. Sr. High School on Rota. I have been a long time member of YAP and I am also in the Natural Helpers program. In my free time, I enjoy reading books, playing games on my Nintendo, crocheting, and traveling. I love eating and discovering different types of foods, but some of my most favorites are adobo, Korean fried chicken, and sisig. However, no matter how much I love eating foods there will always be certain ones that I can’t tolerate such as sweet potato leaves and champorado (chocolate rice porridge). Through taking this class, I am hoping to learn new photography skills so I can document my memories when I travel or have any special events. I have never really been that good at taking photos, so I am really excited to start learning new skills and interesting things about photography in this class!
